Coming into week eleven with a 6-3 record, as usual, Bills fans are more pessimistic than optimistic. After a 19-16 loss to Cleveland, all of the Twitter critics came out to explain why the Bills stink. Despite a great start, frustration is understandable after this loss. Buffalo should have beat Cleveland but they got in their own way. Let’s take a look at what went wrong.
Rookie Devin Singletary had a breakout game against the Redskins in and was primed for a great game against Cleveland. The Browns were the thirtieth ranked run defense heading into the game and they were without Olivier Vernon. It appeared that Singletary would be our go-to guy on offense, but the rookie only got eight carries. Offensive Coordinator, Brian Daboll, clearly overthought his game plan and did not incorportate enough of the run.
Levi Let Down
With Odell Beckham Jr. obviously blanketed by Tre White, that meant Levi Wallace was assigned to Jarvis Landry and woof. Wallace got burnt like toast on a handful of occasions by Landry. The 2018 undrafted free agent gave up a thirty yard play to put the Browns in position to score the game-winner. He followed that play by getting burnt by Rashard Higgins. Another performance like this will surly open up the conversation of Buffalo being in the CB2 market.
After the loss in which kicker Stephen Hauschka missed both of his field goal attempts, one being the game-tying field goal attempt that would have sent the game to overtime, Bills fans wanted Haus’ head. Many speculated that we should move on from the kicker. Although Hauschka has not been the best, I believe head coach Sean McDermott will stick by his guy.
Buffalo now heads down to Miami to play the scorching hot Dolphins who have won two straight games. Buffalo is looking to get their act together offensively, as the playoffs are still certainly in grasp.
