Buy or Sell: Hype in the NFL October 2019

Should you buy into the hype? Should you sell the unlikely rumors? Here is everything you need to know about October’s biggest news around the NFL.

Joe Burrow will be the #1 pick.

Sell: Burrow has been one of the best quarterbacks this college season. He is also probably the biggest riser in the draft cycle since this preseason. I’d sell this rumor because I think the Bengals and Dolphins are set on Herbert and Tua. Not only that, but the number of scouts who watched Justin Herbert play against Colorado was alarming. Burrow will be an early pick, however, he will not be the first player off of the board.

Dan Quinn’s Days are Over in Atlanta

Buy: Let me first start by saying that I really like Dan Quinn as a coach, and I hope he will get a chance to start over somewhere new. Nonetheless, this Atlanta Falcons defense is playing horrible considering the talented personal they are able to put on the field every week. Despite Quinn being ever so close to winning a Super Bowl just three years ago, I believe the owner, Arthur Blank and GM, Thomas Dimitroff will let him walk sooner rather than later.

Gardner Minshew II will be the Jaguars Full-Time QB

Sell: The Jaguars spent 88 million dollars on Nick Foles. Minshew has played decent through six weeks, but not at the level of a Super-Bowl MVP. Doug Marrone is smart enough to go with the proven winner, Nick Foles as their starter.

We will see a Lot of Movement at th Trade Deadline

Sell: There will be a lot of GM’s licking their chops as we near this year’s trade deadline, however, there won’t be quite as many players available on the market as fans believe. Patrick Peterson, Odell Beckham Jr, Von Miller, and a few other players were rumored to be names to watch. All have had reports that their teams are unwilling to part with them. I think we will definitely see a couple of teams add depth, but nothing outlandish to make for must-watch TV.

Jets Should Fire Adam Gase

Sell: Adam Gase may just be the most unlucky coach in the NFL. Gase has had numerous QB’s step into the starting role due to injury. Yet we saw on Sunday what Gase can do with a competent quarterback in Sam Darnold vs Dallas, plus the new GM, Joe Douglas is very fond of Gase. We will see Gase with the Gang Green in 2020.

Baker is Not a Franchise QB

Buy: Maybe one of the first controversial subjects in this article, Baker Mayfield has proven numerous times that he isn’t fit to lead a franchise. He has a league-high 11 interceptions and has only completed 56% of his passes. If I was in Freddie Kitchens shoes, I’d start giving Garrett Gilbert more reps. Baker is a very cocky player which is not viewed greatly around the league. I think all Cowherd haters owe Colin an apology.

Rams won’t make the playoffs

Sell: Even before the Jalen Ramsey trade, the Rams had one of the best rosters in the league. With one of the better coaching staffs around the NFL and that impressive collection of talent, the Rams will be just fine.

Kyle Allen will be the Panthers full time starting QB

Hold: The only rumor on this list that I really can’t give a full answer for. I believe that Kyle Allen will be the starting QB until he has a bad game. If I were Ron Rivera, I’d give Cam Newton more time to rest, and continue to trot Kyle Allen out as the starter in an attempt to increase his trade value. However, Ron Rivera’s job security is in the hands of the owner, David Tepper at the moment.

Jamies Winston won’t be a Buccaneer in 2020

Sell: Yes, I know Winston had five interceptions in one game, but I do think he has shown huge strides this season. Head Coach, Bruce Arians is quite fond of Winston, and I don’t think he’ll want to go through the growing pains of grooming another rookie QB anytime soon. I wouldn’t be shocked if we see Winston get franchise tagged this offseason.

Eagles Will Trade for a CB This Month

Sell: A lot of Philly beat writers and fans want the Birds to trade for a corner, and I myself think we do need to improve at that position. However, I don’t think the Eagles will pull the trigger because the GM, Howie Roseman doesn’t value CB’s as much as other positions. With Jalen Mills and Cre’von LeBlanc getting close to a return, I think Jim Schwartz will give them a shot to win the job. Although, I do think the Eagles try to acquire an edge rusher before the trade deadline passes.

Russell Wilson is the Front Runner for MVP

Buy: Currently, I think Russell Wilson is playing like the best QB in the NFL. If he can even remotely continue anything close to this level of play for the rest of the season, he will win his first MVP award. Wilson’s stat line has been quite impressive through the first six weeks, a 72.5% completion rate, 1,704 yards, 14 TD’s and 0 INT’s on the year. That deserves praise.
